MLA Report: April 2012

There is a lot of work to be done to support citizens and create a more equal society, and I’m honoured to take on my new role as the Opposition Critic for Social Development. Poverty and inequality are huge issues in British Columbia, and getting more urgent every year.

The numbers tell the story: Food Banks Canada reported in 2011 that 31% of food bank users in B.C. were children. The cost of living just keeps going up, putting more pressure on families.

MLA Report: February 2012

We're fortunate here in Victoria and in our province to live in a place surrounded by natural beauty, with a coastline that remains largely unspoiled. As British Columbians, we do not take our province’s beauty for granted, and so it comes as no surprise that we would speak out against a project that could threaten the way of life that we cherish.

MLA Report: January 2012

With a diverse, active and engaged population and one of the best locations anywhere, Victoria is an amazing city to call home. I am so proud and honoured to represent our community. Victorians know they’re fortunate to live in such a wonderful place. But imagine the strength of our community if the provincial government would answer some of the challenges our residents are facing every day.
